Hugh Wesley’s is distilled form wild foraged juniper berries and is one of the only gins in the world to utilize the Juniperus Virginiana variety. We then age the gin in used single malt whiskey barrels for 9 months.

THE DISTILLERY

John Emerald Distilling is a small batch craft distillery located in beautiful downtown Opelika, Alabama. We offer tours, cocktails, and bottle sales in house as well as distribute our spirits throughout Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, Florida, New York, California, Colorado, and Illinois.


We are proud of our heritage. From the original three Sharp brothers who ventured to America from Scotland to the namesake of our company, John Emerald Sharp, the Sharps have lived lives of integrity: honoring God, their fellow man and their family. So when it came time to name our distillery, the idea to honor our forefathers in name and spirit rang true.

COCKTAILS

The Zelda-

1.5oz Hugh Wesley’s Barrel Rested Gin, 1.5oz Lemon juice, 1.5oz simple syrup, 3 dashes of aromatic bitters and .75oz of egg whites. Shake over ice and strain into chilled martini glass.

Rosemary Pear Fizz-

1.5oz Hugh Wesley’s Barrel Rested Gin, 2oz pear juice, .5oz lemon juice, muddle with rosemary, and serve over ice in a collins glass, top off with ginger ale.
